Now, just weeks before shipments begin, Clicks has quietly upgraded the phone's memory, battery, and software. The changes make the Clicks Communicator a more capable device than originally promised, and the company is not raising the preorder price to match.
The Communicator is an Android phone built around a physical QWERTY keyboard, a design that fans of old BlackBerry devices have been asking for. Clicks first showed the phone at a trade show in January. At that time, it was set to ship with 8GB of RAM, a 4,000mAh battery, and Android 14. All three of those specs have changed.

What this means for Clicks Communicator gets 12GB RAM bigger
The biggest change is the jump from 8GB to 12GB of RAM. That is a 50 percent increase in memory. Clicks says the upgrade will help the phone handle more apps at once and stay usable for longer. This is notable because many phone makers have been cutting back on RAM to save costs. Clicks went the other way.
The battery has also grown. The original plan called for a 4,000mAh cell. The final version will pack a 4,350mAh battery. That is a modest increase, but every bit helps when you are using a phone as a daily driver instead of a secondary device.

Preorder customers who locked in the $499 price will not have to pay extra for these upgrades. The $499 price is available through September 30. After that, the MSRP rises to $649. Anyone who orders before the deadline gets the upgraded hardware and software at the original lower price.
Clicks will start shipping the Communicator in December. Starting September 18, preorder holders can finalize their orders by choosing a color, keyboard layout, charging covers, and accessories.
Dbrand cases and screen protectors available at launch
Clicks has partnered with Dbrand to offer accessories for the Communicator. The MNML minimalist case will sell for $39. The Prism glass screen protector, which includes a self-aligning tray for easy installation, will cost $35. Both are designed to work with the phone's built-in magnets, so magnetic wireless charging still works with the case on.
For buyers who want a different look, Clicks will also sell its own Ring bumper case for $49. Charging Covers, which let you change the phone's appearance, will be available for $50 or $80 depending on the material.
Clicks Mobile eSIM service and Clicks Care protection plan
Clicks is also launching Clicks Mobile, a service that provides cellular connectivity through eSIM. It will be available in the US and the UK. Eligible customers who activate their Communicator at launch will receive two months of free voice and data service. The phone also includes a nano SIM card slot for those who prefer a physical card.
For protection, Clicks Care is a two-year accidental damage plan that covers drops, spills, and screen cracks. It costs $129 in the US and Canada, with a $49 deductible for each claim.
